Working Toward a Greener Future with Thailand’s Green Hotel Plus Program: Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel
At Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel, we're fortunate to be surrounded by something truly special: the peaceful beauty of Koh Siray, the rhythm of local life, and the lush greenery that makes this place so unique. That's why we don't see sustainability as a trend but as something we need to do.
Initiated by Thailand's Department of Climate Change and Environment, we intend to join the Green Hotel program, a program that motivates hotels to care for their surroundings, support local businesses, and effectively allocate their resources. Adhering to this, we have made many of our decisions based on green hotel program standards and the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC).
Below are the contributions we make in our daily operations that show our level of concern for the island, the community, and every visitor staying with us.
1. Managing Resources and Reducing Waste
Refillable Toiletries:
All rooms are equipped with refillable bottles for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. This helps reduce plastic waste and limits our environmental footprint.
Green Hour in the Workplace
We switch off the air-conditioning in our office areas twice daily for one hour. This daily habit helps reduce energy use and reminds us of the value of mindful consumption.

Water-Saving Linen Program:
Guests staying multiple nights are invited to reuse their towels and bed linens. This helps save water and reduces the need for chemical detergents.
Converting Organic Waste into Fertiliser
We use a biodigester to turn kitchen waste into natural fertiliser. The fertiliser is then used in our gardens to grow herbs, vegetables, and fruits for use in our kitchen.

2. Supporting the Local Community
Sourcing from Local Vendors
Whenever possible, we purchase food and beverages from local suppliers in Phuket. This supports small businesses and reduces the environmental impact of long-distance transportation.
Supporting Local Schools and Organisations
We regularly contribute to local schools and community initiatives. Giving back is part of how we remain connected to the people who live and work around us.
Preserving Local Traditions
Twice a month, we host a traditional alms-giving ceremony, during which food is offered to the monks. Guests are welcome to observe or take part in this peaceful and culturally meaningful ritual.

3. Choosing Greener Operations
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products
Our housekeeping team uses cleaning products that are biodegradable and free of harmful chemicals. These products are safer for both people and the environment.
Electric Vehicles Within the Hotel
Electric buggies are used to transport guests and staff around the property. They help reduce noise and air pollution, supporting a cleaner and quieter atmosphere.
Responsible Waste Management
We carefully sort waste to ensure that recyclables are correctly sorted. Black water from our sewage is treated before leaving the property, helping protect both land and the nearby sea.
|
4. Caring for Nature and Wellbeing
Regular Beach Clean-Ups
We organise four beach clean-up events every month. Staff and guests collaborate to help preserve Phuket’s natural beauty and maintain clean local shorelines.
Growing Organic Produce
We use organic methods to grow many of the herbs, vegetables, and fruits used in our restaurants. This reduces the need for external deliveries and ensures fresher, healthier meals.

Upcycling Coffee Grounds in the Spa
Used coffee grounds from our kitchens are turned into natural scrubs and soaps for spa treatments. This helps reduce waste and offers guests eco-conscious self-care options.
Safe, Eco-Friendly Spa Products
All spa products at Sindh Spa are carefully selected to be free of harmful chemicals and environmentally friendly, ensuring they are gentle on your skin and the environment.

Looking Ahead
As a responsible hotel to the community and the earth, we re pleased with the steps we have taken but our attention remains on what we can do further, No matter how small we believe every action taken toward protecting biodiversity can help Phuket's natural beauty, support local communities and provide our guests with an experience that makes feel good in every way.
